The Nomad may have been born from a simple idea to give the Ariel Atom a sibling capable of all-terrain driving but in the making, it has taken on rather more of its own identity. The lightweight 1,477-pound Nomad comes with a 2.4-liter four-cylinder iVTEC engine borrowed from Honda and modified to output 235 horsepower and 221 lb-ft of torque to the rear wheels through a six-speed transmission with hydraulic clutch and a limited slip differential. Also, this process allows the customer to actually communicate with the technician, getting involved in the process in a way few other manufacturers allow. Like all of Ariel’s creations, each Nomad will be handbuilt by a single technician, making each vehicle a personal and unique project.
